The Murphey Candler Park Conservancy and Chattahoochee Riverkeepers are planning a Sweep The Hooch Cleanup Event at Murphey Candler Park this Saturday, April 7th from 9:00 a.m to 1:00 p.m.  Come on out bring your kids and help make a difference in our park & for the Nancy Creek Watershed!!  For more detailed information see email below from Steve Peters - Volunteer Coordinator for MCPC & Team Lead for STH @ Murphey Candler Park and attached flyer:

My name is Steve Peters - Volunteer Coordinator for MCPC and Team Lead for STH @ MCP.  cell 404-313-4348

Welcome - we are looking forward to Saturday's event.  After the online registration closeout - noon yesterday - there are 78 volunteers listed

MCP is in the heart of the Nancy Creek Watershed, and has been targeted for improvements thru a Brookhaven plan.  Combining our STH efforts with this overall initiative is a great kick-start.  The Nancy Creek Watershed runs from Peachtree Corners, thru Doraville, Chamblee, Dunwoody, Brookhaven, Sandy Springs and the NE portion of City of Atlanta.

Our three (3) workareas within MCP consist of:
North Fork Nancy Creek - from I-285 to the wetlands above MCP Lake
MCP Lake itself - open water and shorelines
Nancy Creek - below the sports fields

We are asking that everyone meet at a central location for kick-off, announcements and wrap-up.
plug into your map apps: 1630 West Nancy Creek Dr - across from SE corner of MCP Lake, by the large football fields.  We call it the Mustang Field parking lot

We'll have gloves, bags (garbage & recycling), and water.  Please bring refillable water containers so we reduce the amount of plastic that WE use!!  After check-ins, we'll get everyone started in their areas, and identify trash collection locations.

All recycling will be bagged, weighed and turned in with DeKalb County blue bags.  Any tires found wil be recycled.

As we finish up, we'll consolidate trash/recycling in the 3 areas, and meet back up in the main parking lot.  Everyone will need to check out, and we'll have water and t-shirts to pass out as we celebrate a hard-days work.

Walk-ups are encouraged, and simply need to fill out the waiver & registration forms.

Please feel free to call or email me.  I'm looking forward to meeting all of you.
